FTE Automotive honored in Detroit second time in succession
“Lubrication Oil Pump” wins PACE Award and PACE Innovation Partnership Award 2016.
Detroit, April 11, 2016 : FTE automotive was a recipient of the 2016 PACE Award (Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contribution to Excellence) in the category “Products“ for its low pressure transmission dry-sump lubrication oil pump assembly. In addition FTE automotive was recognized with the PACE Innovation Partnership Award for its work with Audi acknowledging the positive collaboration and importance of strong relationships required to commercialize automotive innovations.
Dr. Uwe Krüger, President and CEO, FTE automotive North America, accepted the award on behalf of FTE automotive during the award ceremony held April 11 at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. “It is a big honor to receive this prestigious award second time in succession. To be recognized for our innovative products and our customer partnership with Audi means a lot to our company“, said a delighted Uwe Krüger.
FTE´s lubrication oil pump was developed in close cooperation with Audi. It is being used in Audi’s new 7-speed double clutch transmission, which is installed in the A4, A5, A6 and Q5 models. The pumps can be switched “on” and “off” on demand. They are primarily built from engineered thermoplastic and thermoset materials which are carefully chosen to withstand the harsh environment inside today’s automotive trans-missions.
The PACE Award judges were impressed by FTE’s innovative lubrication oil pump de-sign that features light weight, high efficiency and cost advantages in a surprisingly small package. The lubrication pump is a key component in the dry sump lubrication system which increases transmission efficiency thus resulting in a reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
FTE automotive is developing a range of different oil pumps for various automotive applications driven by brushless permanent magnet motors. All FTE pump assemblies use high-quality and lightweight thermoplastic and thermoset materials. Their small package is the result of inventive design ideas and material choice. The modular design approach allows the addition of different pump heads to the motor drive unit to meet the requirements of a wide range of automotive applications.
For over 20 years the Automotive News PACE Awards have honored superior innova-tion, technological advancement and business performance among automotive sup-pliers. This prestigious award is recognized around the world as the industry bench-mark for innovation.

ContiTech V-Ribbed belt kits
• V-ribbed belt kits contain all components needed for belt changing and simplify service • All components – even the small consumables – have OE quality • ContiTech covers the most common applications with over 110 kits
Hanover, March 2016. All the spares for changing multiple V-ribbed belts in an all-in-one package: ContiTech covers all repair requirements with its V-ribbed belt kits for the automotive aftermarket. All the components in the kits – even the small consumables – match the quality automotive manufacturers use in original equipment. The specialist in belt drive components offers a solution for the most common applications with its more than 110 all-in-one packages.
The V-ribbed belt kits contain all components workshops need for changing the belt – perfectly matched. “Thanks to our closeness to the automotive manufacturers, on the one hand, and the workshops, on the other, we know what parts we need to include in the kits,” explains product manager Dennis Roth. These are the necessary tensioning pulleys and idlers, in addition to the multiple V-ribbed belt. Depending on the application, dampers and consumables are also included. In this way, ContiTech is complying with the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications which explicitly call for the tensioner and all other components to be replaced when changing a multiple V-ribbed belt. Also, ContiTech’s customers get everything from a single source.
The tensioner is a part that wears out over time. If this reduces the tension of the multiple V-ribbed belt, wide-ranging consequential damage can occur – particularly if the multiple V-ribbed belt gets into the toothed belt drive. Changing the multiple V-ribbed belt and the tensioning pulleys and idlers as well as the dampers and consumables at the same time increases safety for both the engine and the vehicle owner. Subsequent service work on the belt drive is not required because all components involved are replaced – which is clearly in the customer’s interest. In addition, customers benefit from the extensive services and expertise of the drive specialist and get everything they need from a single source. Furthermore, ContiTech provides customers with a central point of contact in the independent aftermarket. “We want to offer not only first-class products, but also a comprehensive package that allows our retail and workshop partners to work more efficiently,” says Roth. An increasingly extensive kit range is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
